Privacy policy

How we handle your data.

We're migrating our full privacy policy to the new site. In the meantime, if you have any questions about how we collect, use, or store your data, please get in touch.

Analytics

We use PostHog to understand how MC Server World is used, on this website, in the app and on our servers. It records things like which pages are visited, when somebody signs up, creates a world, shares an invite or pays for a plan, and when players join or leave a server. These records are linked to a random account ID, not your name or email. PostHog also receives basic details such as your browser or device type, screen size, time zone and app version. It receives your IP address but does not keep it, and we have turned off its feature that works out a location from it. PostHog stores this data in the United States.

We never send PostHog your date of birth or anybody's Minecraft name. When somebody is too young to sign up, we record only that it happened, never their age or date of birth. Players who join a server are recorded under a scrambled code instead of their name, along with when they joined and left and whether they were removed. We remove invite codes, email addresses and one-time codes from links before anything is sent to PostHog.

On this website, the sign-up, sign-in, password, email-verification and invite pages send only a few named events, without browser or device details. PostHog stores nothing in your browser (no cookies) and does not record your screen or clicks.

This website also uses Google's tag for Google Analytics and Google Ads measurement, which sets cookies. It is switched off on our account pages (signing up, signing in, password reset and email verification) and on invite links, and everywhere for a browser that has been through the age check and been told it is too young.

Emails

Your sign-up and password codes are sent by email. If you agreed to emails from us, we may also send tips about your servers (for example, how to join if nobody has joined a new world yet) and, occasionally, a short survey asking how it went. Answering is always optional.

To stop these, turn off “Tips and updates by email” under Settings in the app, or “Email me product news and tips” under My account → Settings → Communications on this website. You can also reply STOP to a survey, or email us.

To ask what we hold about you, or to have it deleted, email us.
